Hypnosis is something different for each individual
Most people think of hypnosis in terms of stage shows and Hollywood comedies, of being controlled by others and being at their mercy. However, therapeutic hypnosis is exactly the opposite of foreign domination.
In hypnosis, you determine which changes should take place. You learn to take charge again. You can learn to change behavior patterns, optimize your health or deal with fears and blockages. The list of possible applications for hypnosis is long.
So what is hypnosis really?
Hypnosis is According to Wikipedia: “State of artificially induced partial sleep associated with an altered state of consciousness”.
What is hypnosis for me:
- an inner process
AND
- a state of consciousness
Because it is so, that with the help of hypnosis a new reality is created. A new reality with changes, new possibilities of harmonizations, healing and optimization. This happens first in the mental world, inside you. That means simply, you close your eyes and imagine it. This change you want, this new feeling or new behavior you want. Then is skillfully stimulated by hypnotic words that this change should now take place step by step. Blockages and fears can be put aside and confidence and self-confidence are built up. A new reality is established that now seems possible and real to you. Your daily behavior and thinking are now moving in the direction of change and optimization. A process towards the target state is stimulated and initiated. A new resonance is created. A new quality of life.
The word hypnosis
Basically, the word hypnosis originally comes from ancient Greek and means sleep. Hypnos, was the god of sleep for the Greeks.
Here is a little history of why we use the word hypnosis today: Around 1820, the term was first used in France. But especially the physician James Braid presented in 1841 new theories about a psychophysiological connection to go into a trance state and coined for this the expression neuro-hypnotism. And this James Braid also used the word hypnosis for the sake of brevity in his manuscripts. And thus this word hypnosis was adopted by other physicians and scientists in their research and scripts. This until today. Although it does not exactly correspond to our natural sleep, but rather deals with our neural networks in the brain mostly in a relaxed state.
Hypnosis is therefore a sleep-like state. However, one is not in conventional sleep, but rather in an intermediate state.
The word trance is often used to describe a hypnotic state. The word trance comes from the French and means transition, which is probably more accurate than the word ‘sleep’.
One is between the waking consciousness and the sleep.
The conscious mind is not as active as usual. At the same time, you are not in an unconscious sleep. However, the unconscious part in you is contactable because you can be relaxed and focused on your inner self. This is the ideal state to stimulate and find solutions. Because in this state you don’t think and act from your pure mind, but rather from your gut..
Advantages of hypnosis
With targeted topic-specific suggestions you can be led into the state of trance. In the trance or in the hypnotic state, you can then address and optimize specific topics. The targeted hypnosis is usually guided by a therapist. Useful suggestions and proposals are integrated and access to memory is further opened and also becomes more programmable for positive changes. A process is stimulated. A process that was not possible before. Mostly it is about change desires, about healing or perception optimization or reduction of unwanted things. Through hypnosis, changes and optimizations can be stimulated, which are not always possible through one’s own pure willpower.
Getting stuck and never coming out is not possible as it is sometimes portrayed in Hollywood movies. Collapsing into normal sleep, on the other hand, is. You then wake up again normally. Mostly very relaxed.
Hypnosis consists mainly of 3 parts:
- The trance induction = induction of hypnosis
- Verbal instructions and suggestions (these are discussed beforehand in a conversation)
- Dissolution of hypnosis (or trance) = You round it off and end the hypnosis
In therapeutic hypnosis, as I use it in my practice, it is so that we will first briefly talk about the topic of the session. What is desired, what change makes sense, and how do we proceed. Then in the actual session, what is discussed will be stimulated so that it can implement itself in your real life at a later time.
The hypnosis in everyday life
In everyday life, are you sometimes in a hypnotic state or trance?
In everyday life, are you sometimes in a hypnotic falling asleep and likewise when you wake up. This means, that in these moments your waking and sleeping consciousnesses are active at the same time. The ideal hypnosis state.
Daydreaming also certainly corresponds to the hypnotic state. That is, while you are awake, you sometimes manage to become absorbed in your thoughts, away from the real thing. Inner images, thoughts, melodies or mental self-talk take place. Be it during a train ride or jogging or walking or any other reflection. I’m sure you’re familiar with this. This is also a kind of hypnosis. You should use these states more. Learning selfhypnosis is among other things an option to do that more and more.
Self-hypnosis what is it?
Selfhypnosis is quite simply expressed: meditation with suggestion from your own mind. It is a method of developing oneself independently of others and thereby helping oneself. Most of us already use selfhypnosis or some kind of it without knowing it. Because every inner reflection and planning is already a kind of selfhypnosis. Attention is focused on yourself. Stress and unpleasantness can be reduced or changed. Healing processes can be improved. Perception and focus can be optimized through selfhypnosis.
Self-hypnosis you can take back self-control. More and more often it can happen to us that the daily stress and the environment or even difficult times take away our control. Control over your emotions, over your sleep, even over your health. Unhealthy habits can take hold and more. Through selfhypnosis, you can relatively quickly regain the quality of life you desire.
